Ulf's Space Age LED-WatchesThe oldest one I own is a PIRATRON from 1970 Although it is looking gold it is silver as you can see below. It only supports a time display, but no dateAlso very nice is the LANCO from 1974 .The LANCO is a rare one that supports also two Timezones simultanously. The WITTNAUER POLARA were very famous and expensive: $ 395,- The lady's watch is quite funny: It uses only a two digits display which is switched from hours to minutes after one second. Now here are some other famous ones: This is one of the BULOVA Driver's watches, where you can leave your hand on the steering wheel while looking at the display ! It is one of those rare models which have a 6 digit display. This is one of the famous COMPUCHRON from Hughes Aircraft: A mixture of a watch and a calculator It uses four batteries, two to supply the watch and the calculator chips and two just to supply the 9-digit display The Time-Display: The the Calculator-Display: Anotther lady's watch from National Semiconductor, the "Ten Four": The Timeband LED-watch has rather small LED-displays
One of the older ones: The FRONTIER wrist watch. You can see the display segments consists single dot LEDs. This technology was used only inside the very early LED watches. ![]() This watch was the model for one of the 2002 rebuilt FOSSIL watches: A real rarity: An ELEKTRONIKA-1 wrist watch. This watch is one of only four models of LED watches, witch were developed in the former Soviet Union as a counterpart of the American and Japanese LED watch models. A common Russian guy was not able to buy it due to the incredible price to pay for it. Today these watches are offered very seldom. This watch displays time in 24-hour-mode. On the back you can read kyrillic letters, i.e. "CCCP" which mean "Soviet Union" The Novus LED-watch, one of the early ones, with dot-style LEDs The MIDO-Swissonic LED-watch is a driver's watch with an interesting display concept: Display of hours and minutes, Display of day and seconds
